Just because Kant said it doesn’t mean it is the word of God, I don’t respect many of his theories (emphasis on not-a-fact). To me this is everything that is wrong with the exclusive, middle class and white art industry. If you want to perpetuate the problems go ahead, but maybe one day try having an independent thought. It might make your art better.
Ultimately you might want to remember that everything is subjective. Just because you’ve killed yourself at art school it doesn’t mean that you, or anyone else, can ever make a definite statement about ‘the beautiful’.
What this conversation comes down to is opinion. And everyone has one. All my point was, is that if you say work is “bad,” back it up. I don’t see why that’s such a fucking problem.
i stopped paying attention in art critiques long ago.it was funny hearing people reach so far into a painting that was just gibberish/stream of thought painting to me.
some lady once told me she could “hear” my painting and started making the sounds she heard. she wins.
anyone can criticize. your knowledge of the artform will determine how much weight i give your opinion. but even if its negative, i dont really give a fuck.
This is so incredible. He actually paints himself to match the backgrounds. There is no PhotoShop involved. It’s mind boggling to think about the grasp he has on color theory and if you know anything about it, color theory is not simple.
